It is alleged that the driver of the black BMW did not stop and as the vehicle was fleeing, officers "observed something being thrown out of the window."

They say the investigation revealed that the man, who is a Canadian citizen, travelled to Jamaica in May to allegedly help plan the murder.

The driver and the passenger, police said, got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The vehicle, which was still on drive, rolled into a fence and then into a nearby forest.

AJAX — Police have arrested one suspect and continue to seek another after an attempted traffic stop led to a pursuit early Tuesday in Ajax.

Durham Regional Police say they were notified by the RCMP in May about the allegations involving a 56-year-old man from Ajax, Ont.

Suspects tossed a substance believed to be cocaine from the vehicle during the chase, which began shortly after midnight Sept. 3 when officers attempted to pull over a BMW for a traffic violation in the Westney Road area, Durham police said.

The driver and a passenger bailed from the vehicle, which was still in gear, on McGonigal Lane, police said. The suspects fled on foot and the car struck a fence, then into a wooded area.

Kion Knight-Forde, 18, of Westacott Crescent, Ajax, is charged with assault with intent to resist arrest and drug possession.
