A 20-year-old was arrested at an east-end apartment complex Wednesday night after an incident involving a knife.

Barrie Police arrested the Bracebridge man at a Duckworth Street apartment after getting reports of a person injured at the location.

Barrie Police’s Peter Leon told BarrieToday the man was arrested without incident and later released with a court date.

“Barrie Police responded to the call with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit and K-9 Unit shortly after 8 p.m and were able to apprehend the suspect,” said Leon. “He was released and will appear in court Sept. 16.”

The accused is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Barrie Police arrested a Bracebridge man after surrounding an apartment building with guns drawn on Wednesday evening.

Officers were seen entering the building on Duckworth Street, just north of Grove Street around 8 p.m. with rifles.

Simcoe County paramedics confirm one person was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The victim was treated and released.

The 20-year-old accused is facing two counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He has been released from custody with a future court date.
