Woman, 34, arrested after triple stabbing in downtown Brampton
A 34-year-old female suspect is in police custody after three people were stabbed in downtown Brampton on Saturday morning.

Peel Regional Police say they were called to the corner of Queen and Main streets at 10:51 a.m. for a report of three people suffering stab wounds.

Paramedics took one of the men to a trauma centre but in serious and not life-threatening condition and the other man to a local hospital in serious condition.

Const. Akhil Mooken said officers went to an apartment above a business in the area and found a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries, a man with serious injuries and a second man with less serious injuries.

The stabbing happened inside a residential unit above a store at Main and Queen streets. Emergency crews were called to the scene at about 10:50 a.m.

This was a targeted and isolated incident. We would like to assure the community that this was not a random attack, Mooken said.

Officers were already in the area before the incident occurred as a farmers market was underway outside.

A woman is in custody after a “targeted” attack sent three people to hospital with stab wounds in Brampton.

The stabbing was "targeted and isolated," according to Const. Akhil Mooken, spokesperson for Peel Regional Police.

Peel Regional Police say the incident occurred in an apartment above a business on Main Street near Queen Street West just before 11 a.m.

A man and a woman were taken to a trauma centre, the woman suffering from life-threatening injuries while a man was listed in serious condition. Police later said the woman’s condition had been stabilized and she was no longer in life-threatening condition.

Mooken added that the suspect and victims knew each other, but he declined to comment on the nature of the relationship.

A third victim, a 45-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital in non-life threatening condition, but he has since been released.

A 34-year-old woman is in custody in what police say was a “targeted and isolated incident” and not a random attack.

Police would not specify what the relationship is between the victims and the suspect except to say that they were known to each other.
