Emergency crews were called to the area of Main and Queen streets around 10:50 a.m. for reports of a stabbing.
Woman in custody in targeted triple stabbing in Brampton
Police said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found three people suffering from stab wounds in an apartment unit above a business in the area.
One man who sustained serious injuries and a woman with life-threatening injuries were transported to a trauma centre for treatment.
Peel Regional Police Const. Akil Mooken said that it is believed the suspect and victims may be known to each other.
"We would like to reassure the community that this was a targeted and isolated incident and not a random attack," Mooken said.
A third victim, a 45-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital in non-life threatening condition, but he has since been released.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact officers or reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Const. Akhil Mooken said officers went to an apartment above a business in the area and found a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries, a man with serious injuries and a second man with less serious injuries.
This was a targeted and isolated incident. We would like to assure the community that this was not a random attack, Mooken said.
Peeyush Gupta, the owner of the business below the apartment, said he was serving a customer when one of the victims entered his shop and asked to call 911.
Officers were already in the area before the incident occurred as a farmers market was underway outside.
