SIU investigating Brampton incident involving Peel police
The provinces police watchdog is investigating after officers were involved in an "interaction" with a man at a Brampton home early Sunday morning.

Peel Regional Police were called to a home in the area of Montjoy Crescent and Maitland Street at around 2:20 a.m. for a reported disturbance.

The Special Investigations Unit is called in any time police officers are involved in incidents where someone has been seriously injured, dies or alleges sexual assault to conduct independent investigations to determine whether a criminal offence took place

"Peel Regional Police officers responded to a residence on Montjoy Crescent in Brampton in regards to the behaviour of a 24-year-old man who lived in the home. When officers attempted to apprehend the man, there was an interaction. The man was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with a serious injury," the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said in a news release issued Sunday.

Hudon explained that an interaction took place between officers and the male after the officers tried to \”apprehend\” him.  The man was taken to hospital where he was \”diagnosed with a serious injury,\” according to Hudon. 

The SIU is an arms length agency that is called in to investigate any incident involving police and a member of the public that results in death, serious injury, or an allegation of sexual assault.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in to look into an early morning incident involving Peel Regional Police.

SIU media contact Monica Hudon has confirmed that officers responded to a disturbance call in regards to the behaviour of a 24-year-old male, who lived in the residence.

Police say they were called to a home in the area of Montjoy Crescent and Maitland Street in Brampton just before 2:30 a.m. for what is being described as a disturbance.

Upon arriving at the home, police say there was “an interaction with an adult male” but would not give any further details as to the nature of the interaction.

The SIU (Special Investigations Unit) was notified after \”an interaction with an adult male\” took place while police were on scene.

“As a result of this interaction SIU has been notified,” police said in tweet. “Further updates will be provided as they become available.”

A disturbance call at a residence in Brampton has prompted an SIU investigation of Peel Regional Police officers.

Peel police said they were called to a residence in the area of Montjoy Crescent and Maitland Street, near Dixie Road and Williams Parkway, at about 2:20 a.m. for a report of a disturbance.

In a separate incident, police said they were called to the area of Rathburn Road and Meadows Boulevard in Mississauga just before 6 a.m. after reports of a car found between a fence and a pole.

Police said there was an interaction with a man and both the man and a police officer had to be taken to a local hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

The SIU is an arms-length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
