OPP RIDE check nabs two Cambridge men for drug offences

NEWS RELEASE ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE ************************* TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH – On Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 at approximately 8:05 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on Roszell Road and Townline Road in Puslinch Township.

A black pick-up truck entered the ride with two males. While speaking with them officers observed contraband cigarettes and a glass pipe with what appeared to be meth. The occupants were arrested and search incident to arrest resulted in a quantity of drugs being seized.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Oct. 7, Wellington County OPP were conducting a RIDE program on Roszell Road and Townline Road in Puslinch when a black pickup truck with two men inside came through the stop.

As a result of the investigation 47-year-old Alan Stoneham of Cambridge has been charged with Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine and Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) as well as Obstruct Police contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Nov. 9, 2018.

40-year-old Joshua Saunders of Cambridge has been charged with Possession of a Fentanyl, Cocaine, and Methamphetamine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

He is also charged with Obstruct Police and Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Nov. 9, 2018.

Two Cambridge men, aged 40 and 47, are charged with drug-related offences, including possession of fentanyl and crystal meth, after being stopped during a RIDE program operated by Wellington County OPP Sunday.

Officers, who set up the RIDE check at Townline and Roszell roads in Puslinch, at about 8 p.m., stopped a black pickup truck driven by one of the Cambridge men. While speaking to the driver and his Cambridge male passenger, police observed contraband cigarettes in the vehicle as well as a glass pipe that appeared to contain meth. Following a search of the vehicle, both men were arrested and a quantity of drugs was seized.

The 47-year-old resident is charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as obstructing police. The 40-year-old resident is charged with possession of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as obstructing police and breach of probation.
