Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrive in Sydney, Australia for 16-day tour
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived in Sydney on Monday for a 16-day tour of Australia and the South Pacific, just hours before Kensington Palace announced that the royal couple are expecting a child in the spring.

The trip is their only international tour since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were married in May, apart from a two-day visit to Ireland.

Other than Australia, the two of them will travel around the region to Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand and will be overseas until Oct. 31. Their visit in Australia coincides with the Invictus Games, which Prince Harry founded in 2014, and will be held Oct. 20-28. Its also a special event for the Duchess of Sussex. The two of them made their first official outing as a couple at the 2017 Games in Toronto.

Holding hands and casually dressed, the prince and the former American actress walked out an airport rear entrance and into a car. Meghan, wearing skinny black pants and a black, burgundy trimmed coat, was smiling and clutching folders, while Harry gave a thumbs up to bystanders.

The royals arrived in a Qantas Airlines plane, which is the main airline for Australia. There was a momentary false alarm as to when they actually landed because a British Airways plane arrived moments before. Australias The Today Show shared videos of their arrival and the excitement among the news anchors was palpable.

Days after watching Harry's cousin Princess Eugenie tie the knot in a lavish ceremony in Windsor, the couple touched down in Sydney on an overcast morning after a regular Qantas Airways flight from London with a brief stopover in Singapore.

New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the royal visit would have flow-on benefits for the state.

According to a press release from Kensington Palace, Prince Harry and Meghans trip overseas “will focus on youth leadership, and projects being undertaken by young people to address the social, economic, and environmental challenges of the region” with the Invictus Games as a “major focus.”

"I hope the weather holds up because it will be a wonderful experience for everybody, and what better place to be able to welcome them," Berejiklian told Network Nine television.

Just months ago, Meghan Markle wed Prince Harryat St. Georges Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle in a traditional and classy event that set the bar high for all weddings to come. However, on Oct. 12 Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank rose to the high-expectations and proved that the royal family can plan a wedding like nobodys business.

Sydney's weather is expected to be drizzly and cool on Tuesday, with showers forecast for most of the week.

It won't be the first time Harry has had to brave the rain in Sydney. Last year, he made a whirlwind visit to cast his eye over the Invictus Games preparations, where he charmed his fans during torrential rain.

While many aspects of Meghan and Harrys weddings were mirrored in the Princess nuptials, it is clear the two weddings had vast yet equally tasteful differences in style and represented the stark contrasts between the two pairs.

The couple's current tour coincides with the games, which start in Sydney on Saturday. The sporting event, founded by Harry in 2014, gives sick and injured military personnel and veterans the opportunity to compete in sports such as wheelchair basketball.

Harry and Meghan will attend the games' opening and closing ceremonies. In all, they have 76 engagements scheduled over 16 days in Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.

1. Let them eat cake: Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbanks gorgeous wedding cake consisted of five tiers with two different flavors. According to reports, three of them were red velvet while the other two were chocolate sponge. The royals chose London-based cake designer Sophie Cabot to do the honors of creating the grand dessert, which required 400 eggs, over 50 packs of butter, 44 pounds of sugar and 33 pounds of flour. The cake, after all, will feed 850 people. Cabot said, “I am incredibly excited to be given this wonderful opportunity to create such a special and unique cake. It has been lovely working with Princess Eugenie and Jack and I really hope they enjoy the cake on the day.”

In Australia, they will pet a koala in a Sydney zoo, visit the drought-stricken Outback town of Dubbo and meet indigenous leaders on Fraser Island, the world's largest sand island, in northeastern Queensland state.

6. The price of love: Wedding tabs add up, especially if its a royal wedding. Compared to Meghan Markles and Kate Middletons respective weddings, Princess Eugenies nuptials included a heavy bill. The cost of security for Fridays wedding pales in comparison to Prince Harry and Meghan Markles big day. Princess Eugenies security was estimated to cost around £2 million (just over $2.6 million), whereas Mays royal wedding security cost £30 million (about $40 million).

The royal couple were driven from the airport to Admiralty House, the official Sydney residence of Gov. Gen. Peter Cosgrove. The couple had no official functions on Monday following the 17,140-kilometre flight that Qantas says takes 22 hours and 20 minutes.

Hundreds of well-wishers gathered with umbrellas outside the airport and Admiralty House in the hope of catching a glimpse of Harry and Meghan. The crowd cheered as the waving couple was driven through the gates of the harbor-side mansion.

The princess and the Casamigos ambassador exchanged vows at St. Georges chapel in front of a number of friends and royal family members, including Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Prince William and Kate), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Prince Harry and Meghan), Prince Philip and more. Fellow royals Prince George and Princess Charlotte played big roles in the wedding, too.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who plans to climb with Harry to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge during the visit, told Parliament on Monday that he commended the prince for coming to Sydney for the Invictus Games and welcomed the couple.

"I want to … commend Prince Harry for his tremendous initiative in lifting the spirits of every single service man and woman all around the globe," Morrison said.

The Daily Mail and The Sunday Times both report that Mulroney will be on hand with her husband, Ben, in an “unofficial capacity”—reportedly meaning theyll be paying their own way and kind of just casually tagging along on the royal tour, NBD. Theyre expected to fly from Toronto to meet Prince Harry and Markle when the tour launches at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday.

Harry and Meghan said during a television interview in November that they wanted to promote humanitarian causes close to their hearts across Commonwealth-member countries, including Australia.

The visit comes six months after Harry's father, Prince Charles, made his 16th official visit to Australia, primarily to open the 21st Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast city in Queensland.

The two have reportedly been friends since they met in 2011, back when Markle was on Suits (Mulroney is based in Toronto, where the show was shot). Since becoming buds, theyve been photographed together a number of times, and Mulroney was one of the guests at Markles wedding in May.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle arrived in Sydney on Monday, a day before they officially start a 16-day tour of Australia and the South Pacific.

The trip is their only international tour since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were married in May, apart from a two-day visit to Ireland.

She also sparked rumours with her choice of dress at the '100 Days of Peace' concert to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War in September – the floaty blue Jason Wu midi dress featured a paneling detail that actually gave the illusion of a bump, though it was most likely too early for the former actress to be showing. As recently as Princess Eugenie's wedding on Friday, she was noticeably covered up, choosing a demure Givenchy coat dress for the church service.

The prince and the former American actress landed on an overcast morning after a commercial flight from London with a brief stopover in Singapore.

And, while rumours have been circulating since the happy couple's royal wedding in May, there's been plenty of subtle signs that Meghan was expecting. On a number of occasions during the summer, the Duchess was seen discreetly using her body language to hide any sign of a bump – at Charlie Van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks' wedding in August, for example, she regularly held her clutch bag in front of her stomach.
