A passenger, Alex Brown, told the station that he heard the banging noise as well.

The flight landed safely at 9:21 p.m. Passengers were then put on a replacement plane, which departed shortly after midnight. But that plane too emitted a strange, loud noise, Lora told the station, and pilots opted to turn around once again “out of an abundance of safety.”

Chrissy Teigen pointed out last week, having a plane turn around after its takeoff can be pretty frustrating. Now imagine doing it twice.

As compensation for the delay, Delta put Brown and the remainder of the passengers in a hotel, according to the Journal-Constitution. They’re scheduled to fly out of Atlanta Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Delta passengers found themselves in Tuesday night when not one, but two of their planes opted to turn around following their departures from the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
