No suspicious person found following school lockdowns in Delta
Two Delta schools were briefly placed in a hold and secure, as police responded to a report of a suspicious person Thursday.

The "hold and secure" has now been lifted at both @SandsSec and Gray Elementary. No suspicious person located by police despite thorough search.

Police searched the area but no person fitting the initial call was found. The lockdowns have been lifted at both schools.

Delta police said lockdowns at two schools had been lifted after no suspicious person was found on Thursday afternoon.

According to an update shared online at 12:35 p.m., Gray Elementary, at 10855-80 Ave., and Sands Secondary, at 10840-82 Ave., were both issued an order to “hold-and-secure” as a precaution, after police received a report of a suspicious person near the schools.

Delta Police are responding to a report of a suspicious person in the area near Gray Elementary and @SandsSec (Sands Secondary). Schools placed in hold and secure as a precaution.

A “hold-and-secure” is used when there is a threat near a school but not on the school property. It involves business as usual inside the building but keeping doors locked with no entrances or exits.
