Kids sickened by school bus smell released from hospital
GATINEAU, Que. – 21 Gatineau kids are in Hospital after reports of strange fumes aboard their school bus.

Gatineau Police were looking at the possibility of the source might be carbon monoxide, but Commission Scolaire des Portages-de-lOutaouais ruled that out as a cause. The school board says it was a mechanical issue on the bus.

17 children have been sent to hospital in Gatineau sector, 4 other have been sent to Hull. The children have been sent to hospital as a precautionary measure.

It has not been confirmed that they were exposed to carbon monoxide but tests would be performed at the hospital, paramedics said.

The school board says all the kids were okay and had been discharged from the hospital by 3 p.m. Friday.

Paramedics, firefighters and police were called to Saint-Jean de Bosco elementary school at 10:15 a.m.

Twenty-one elementary students who became ill after smelling a strange odour on their school bus in Gatineau, Que., Friday morning have been discharged from hospital.

Seventeen of the students were taken to the Gatineau Hospital and four to the Hull Hospital, Outaouais paramedics said.
