An intersection that houses Halifax’s Pizza Corner saw late night revellers and at least one Halifax Regional Police officer bust a move on Saturday night.

A video shared on the Instagram story of Pizza Girls, one of the stores that make up Pizza Corner, shows an officer surrounded by people as he dances.

A video rapidly gaining traction online shows a uniformed officer dancing to Silento’s “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” in the middle of a Halifax intersection.

The officer can be seen encouraging other to take part even as he performs the “Whip” and “Nae Nae,” a pair hip-hop dance moves.

The video quickly went viral after it was picked up by Halifaxnoise, a social media account that documents events in the city.

HALIFAX — Instead of busting a bad guy, a police officer opted to bust a move at a famous late-night hangout spot in Halifax.

A second video, shared by Perry Astephen, the director of the Halifax Regional Police Association, shows the same officer dancing to Drake’s “In My Feelings.”

In the video, he is surrounded by a crowd of cheering, laughing people — some of whom were taking their own videos.

“Someone sent me this and called it ‘Breakin Down Barriers!” Astephen wrote in his tweet.

Halifaxs smoking bylaw is still a smoldering issue. As it stands, it will soon be illegal to smoke or vape anywhere on municipal land, except in designated areas. As council was in session on Tuesday afternoon, the city sent out a release stating that the by-law prohibiting smoking in public places will officially be enacted on Oct. 1. On Tuesday night, council passed a motion to look at pulling tobacco from their bylaw and asked for a staff report on the matter. The motion, brought forward by Austin, passed with a vote of 11 to 5.

HALIFAX — Instead of busting a bad guy, a police officer opted to bust a move at a famous late-night hangout spot in Halifax.

A Halifax Regional Police officer has caused a stir on social media, after showing off his dance skills in a very public place Sunday morning.

A video rapidly gaining traction online shows a uniformed officer dancing to Silento's "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" in the middle of a Halifax intersection.

Dancing to the beat of the song Watch Me by Silento, the officer got a lot of attention from patrons at Pizza Corner.

In the video, he is surrounded by a crowd of cheering, laughing people — some of whom were taking their own videos.

The spot is always busy after the bars close, so there were plenty of people with cameras to catch his fancy moves.

The clip was posted at about 3:00 a.m. Sunday on the Instagram story of Pizza Girls, one of the stores in the city's so-called "Pizza Corner," an area well known for its selection of greasy grub for local bar-goers.

Another video tweeted by Halifax Regional Police Association director Perry Astephen shows the same officer dancing to Drake's "In My Feelings."
