Halifax Police respond to firearm call in Ferguson Cove
A 69-year-old man was taken into custody after police responded to a weapons call in the Halifax area on Saturday.

Halifax Regional Police say they received a report that a man inside a residence in the 0-200 block of Fergusons Cove Road may be in possession of a firearm.

Police received a call around 4:36 p.m. that a man inside a residence there may have been in possession of a firearm and there was concern for his safety. Fergusons Cove Road had restricted access while officers dealt with the situation.

There was concern for the individuals safety and as a result a small section of Fergusons Cove Road had restricted access, police said in a news release Saturday.

Halifax Police say they received a call shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon saying a man may be inside a home on Fergusons Cove Road and may be in possession of a weapon.

Halifax police report in a statement that there was no threat to public safety, and further information will be released pending investigation.
