Highway 5 has re-opened after a small rock slide shut down part of road near Kamloops Thursday afternoon.

The slide took place between Pinegrove Road and Clough Road. The area is about seven to 11 kilometres south of Barriere in B.C.'s southern Interior.

According to Drive BC, the slide came down between Pinegrove Road and Clough Road, in the area known as Fish Trap.

The rockslide that had closed Highway 5 south of Barriere earlier Thursday has been cleared, and the highway has since reopened.

The slide also led to a power outage along the Yellowhead Highway, though power has since been restored.

BC Hydro is reporting a small power outage impacting 29 homes in the area of the slide. The utility reports electricity was knocked out at 12:25 p.m.

According to DriveBC, the rock slide occurred along the Southern Yellowhead Highway between Pinegrove Road and Clough Road several kilometres south of Barriere in the area known as Fish Trap.

DriveBC reports the slide has closed the highway between Pinegrove Road and Clough Road, about 10 kilometres south of Barriere.

There is no detour available and an assessment is in progress. DriveBC says it will provide an update at 2 p.m.
