Jurassic Park has been the epicentre for Raptors fan celebrations in Toronto, and now those in Peel and Halton regions will have places of their own to watch and collectively hold their breath during what will no doubt be a heart-stopping NBA Finals.

Brampton has also received permission to turn Garden Square into a temporary viewing area, according the city's mayor Patrick Brown. That will be dubbed Jurassic Square.

The Ontario cities of Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington and Kingston say they’ve received permission from Raptors’ owner Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment to set up outdoor viewing areas during the series against the Golden State Warriors.

Burlington too is getting in on the action, with what it's calling "Burlassic Park," hosting free viewing parties for Games 1 and 2 in the city's Civic Square downtown.

They are trying to create local versions of Jurassic Park, the tailgate zone outside the Raptor’s home arena in downtown Toronto that’s been the scene of massive celebrations during the team’s historic playoff run.

"There are a lot of fans in our city so I knew we had to do our own Jurassic Park to show the team we're behind them and to make the most of our first finals appearance," said Coun. Rory Nisan.

Cineplex has once again teamed up with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) to bring #WeTheNorth fever to Raptors fans from coast to coast.

Jurassic Park won’t be the only public area where fans can watch the Raptors make their NBA Finals debut Thursday night.

Coinciding with the start of the Raptors-Golden State Warriors final series on Thursday, 33 Cineplex theatres in Canada will host Raptors viewing parties to celebrate the team’s historic achievement.

The city will not be hosting or providing funding for an NBA Finals viewing event in Vancouver, the City of Vancouver announced in a statement. Events of this nature require adequate lead time to plan and execute successfully, and while we reviewed plans for a potential viewing event, we were not able to identify a location that was suitable and available for a series of up to seven games following the Eastern Conference Final that ended May 25.

Tickets to the first four games of the series will be available in person at participating theatre box offices starting Wednesday at 6 p.m. local time.

Interest in the Raptors has never been higher locally, with bars filling with fans cheering on Canadas lone NBA team in increasing numbers during the playoffs. There are similar scenes taking place all over the country, as Canadian NBA television viewing records have been broken multiple times during this run the Raptors are on.

Earlier this week, Vancouver Green Coun. Michael Wiebe publicly pitched the idea of a “Jurassic Park West,” potentially in  šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtle7énk Square (the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza), but had said the city was still in discussion with the NBA and other stakeholders.
