One dead, four injured in Saturday evening shooting in Mississauga, Ont.
A 17-year-old boy is dead and five others were wounded after gunfire erupted in Mississauga on Saturday evening, Peel Regional Police say.

Speaking to reporters from the scene Saturday night, Chief Chris Cord said among those injured are a 13 year-old, a 16 year-old, two 17 year-olds and a woman in her 50s. One of those victims is in life-threatening condition, while the others are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Cord said.

Police are now searching for what they believe are "multiple individuals armed with semi-automatic weapons," who fled from the area after the shooting.

Circumstances surrounding the incident were scant, but Const. Iryna Yashnyk of the Peel Regional Police say it happened outside an apartment building in a residential area of Mississauga, Ont., just after 6 p.m. One person died at the scene, while five others were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.

"There is a concern for public safety," Cord said, though he added police have combed the area and don't have reason to believe the suspects will return.

According to Peel paramedics, one male was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult male is in life-threatening condition and a male under the age of 18 is in serious but non-life threatening condition.

Peel Regional Police were called to an apartment building on Darcel Avenue near Morning Star Drive and Goreway Drive at 6:22 p.m. ET. Multiple vehicles with bullet holes could be seen in the area.

Investigators believe the shooting took place at a parkette behind the building. Cord told reporters that investigators have information that a music video was being filmed behind the building, but it's unknown if the shooting was related to that filming in any way.

There was a heavy police presence in the area for much of the evening as officers combed through the building to rule out any other victims or possible suspects.

"It is a large scene and a very dynamic investigation," police spokesperson Iryna Yashnyk told reporters earlier in the evening.

Police had several units in the area Saturday night, including tactical and K9 teams. Investigators spoke with several witnesses and are canvassing for video.

UPDATE: One Dead, Several Injured in Mississauga Shooting

Police are working on notifying the victim's next of kin and say the homicide bureau has been notified.

It is a priority for CBC to create a website that is accessible to all Canadians including people with visual, hearing, motor and cognitive challenges.

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — One person was killed in a shooting that sent five others to hospital west of Toronto Saturday evening, police said as they hunted for suspects in the case.

"We would like to extend our condolences to the family," he said. "Our officers attended the scene and provide life-saving measures to try and help the young person.

"Its early in the investigation, and its still very much an active scene and a dynamic investigation," Yashnyk told reporters as police officers went door-to-door in the nearby apartment building looking for more victims and potential suspects.

Asked what the relationship was between the shooters and the victims, Yashnyk said it is also too early in the investigation to determine that, as well. She didn’t provide any information on the deceased victim, other than to say they were notifying next-of-kin.

She said she didnt know if the shooting was targeted or if the victims knew the shooter or shooters.

Police believe the incident took place outside a building on Darcel Avenue, and as part of the investigation, Yashnyk said the building is being cleared “to make sure there are no further victims.”

Officers didnt have any suspect information to provide, she said, noting that nobody had been arrested as of 9 p.m. Yashnyk also declined to provide information about the people who were shot.

If you are at an office or shared network, you can ask the network administrator to run a scan across the network looking for misconfigured or infected devices.

Paramedics, meanwhile, said the person who died was a male, though his age was unknown. Supt. Kyle Johansen of the Peel regional paramedics added that a woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware.

He said two of the injured were under the age of 18. A male teenager had serious injuries, he said, as did a girl who was even younger.
