Codiac RCMP have surrounded the home on Sable Court and are attempting to make contact with the man, said Const. Isabelle Beaulieu.
Homes in the surrounding area have been evacuated and several people have been bused to a nearby centre as a precaution, said Beaulieu.
Due to a police operation, sections of Shannon Drive, Evergreen Drive and Sheffield Court in Moncton are blocked. As a precaution, the public is asked to avoid the area.
The man is by himself and Beaulieu did not confirm if he is armed. The police are asking the public to avoid the area as a precaution.

Codiac RCMP have shut down parts of three streets of a residential area of north end Moncton after responding to a man who had reportedly barricaded himself in his home.
The Mounties say that officers are attempting to make contact with a man who refuses to co-operate with the police.
Police say they are not enforcing an evacuation in the area but that individuals have been escorted from the area after they asked officers to do so.
Sections of Shannon Drive, Evergreen Drive, and Sheffield Court in Moncton were closed to traffic due to a police operation in the area on Sunday.
Police say there is no danger to the public or police officers but have asked people to avoid the area.
