The Canadiens are up 3-2 on the New Jersey Devils after 40 minutes of play. Brendan Gallagher, Cale Fleury (his first in the National Hockey League), and Nick Suzuki scored for Montreal. New Jersey has goals from Nikita Gusev and Nico Hischier.

The New Jersey Devils (6-8-4) are coming off a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night. The Canadiens, meanwhile, scored often in a 5-2 victory over the Washington Capitals.

But most importantly, under Weber's captaincy, there is the sense that this team's results are exceeding its talent. Last season — Weber's first with the 'C' — the Habs were pegged by many analysts to finish near the bottom of the standings. Instead, the Canadiens had 96 points and only barely missed the playoffs.

I’m sure there will be no comparisons between former Hab P.K. Subban (2g, 3a) and Shea Weber (6g, 10a) tonight. Absolutely none.

Perhaps Subban felt he had something to prove, because in the early days with the Devils he seemed to be trying to do too much on the ice. It wasn't uncommon to see Subban out of position while he tried to land a big hit and his signature ability to use his superior skating skills to move the puck up the ice wasn't as sharp.

The Montreal Canadiens announced today that forward Jonathan Drouin has been placed on injured reserve and Charles Hudon has been recalled from the AHLs Laval Rocket.

Neither team held a morning skate after playing Friday. … Dowd and Hagelin are day-to-day. … The Capitals recalled Boyd and Vanecek from Hershey of the American Hockey League on Saturday and sent down defenseman Tyler Lewington and goalie Ilya Samsonov. … The Bruins placed Krug on injured reserve Saturday and called up Carey from Providence of the American Hockey League. … Ritchie practiced Thursday and could be available.

Drouin sustained an upper-body injury in Fridays 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals. He took a big hit from Alexander Ovechkin in the second period. Drouin initially left the game but later returned for the third. Head coach Claude Julien says today that Drouins injury was sustained after he returned to the game and it was not related to Ovechkins hit but was serious enough that he will miss at least one week.

Ovechkin needs two power-play goals to tie Teemu Selanne (255) for third place on the NHL all-time list. He has 49 points (24 goals, 25 assists) in 48 games against the Bruins. … Holtby is 16-3-0 with a 1.80 goals-against average and .946 save percentage against Boston. … Marchand has four points (three goals, one assist) in a three-game point streak.

#Habs Julien says Drouins unspecified upper body injury was sustained after he returned to the game in last nights third period. Julien adds that Drouins injury was not related to Ovechkins hit, but was serious enough that he will miss at least a week, hence IR.

Hudon play in tonights game against the New Jersey Devils. In 17 games with the Rocket this season, Hudon has nine goals and 11 points.

“When you start getting caught up in stats, it starts to go downhill. I think the biggest thing with our group is we try to go game to game, focus more on the process and play consistently well every night. We have a good team.” — Bruins forward Brad Marchand

Jesperi Kotkaniemi also draws back into the lineup after missing seven games with a groin injury. Paul Byron is out with an injury and Keith Kinkaid gets the start in net against his former team.
