Mr Vassallo has already made it clear he is ready to step aside should Dr Said decide to run for the post. “Together – because we are one party. We want everybody to feel comfortable. For tomorrow – we need to face the challenges of tomorrow. I want to be a vehicle for the paid members, general council, the executive, the leader…so that we bring unity in the party before anything else. We cannot generate a serious style of politics without ongoing work for unity. From there we can take it to a national level. I will work so that nobody will feel excluded from the party.”
