FINAL THOUGHTSOverall, the young Kings were outmatched in their fourth preseason game. But with that being said, the purple and white also were able to show signs of optimism that their fans should be excited about.

Sacramento Kings at LA Clippers preseason game 5: How to watch

The Blazers finish their preseason run against Maccabi Haifa B.C. on Thursday night at the Moda Center. Blazer’s Edge writer Brian Freeman will be there to recap and analyze.

LOS ANGELES, CA – APRIL 12: Willie Cauley-Stein #00 of the Sacramento Kings loses the ball as he falls in front of Blake Griffin #32 and DeAndre Jordan #6 of the LA Clippers during the first half at Staples Center on April 12, 2017 in Los Angeles, California. © 2017 FanSided Inc. All Rights Reserved. The Los Angeles Clippers continue the preseason at the Staples Center with the Sacramento Kings coming to town. Los Angeles could not buy a stop at the defensive end of the floor in a 134-106 loss to the visiting Portland Trail Blazers last time out. The Clippers allowed 73 first half points and were never able to get back in to the game.

In the worst of times, like when the Kings put 126 points on them in December, it’s hard not to wonder how much a do-over for the perplexing 2016 offseason would have changed the franchise’s trajectory. GM Neil Olshey has built a strong résumé from his time with the Clippers and Blazers; he nailed the draft picks that landed Eric Bledsoe, Lillard, and McCollum, and easily won the trades for Chris Paul and Nurkic. But breaking the bank to not lose assets for nothing looks more and more like a case of outsmarting yourself, especially with the salary cap leveling off last summer. Shelling out $57 million a year for Meyers Leonard, Maurice Harkless, Evan Turner, and Allen Crabbe—the latter of whom was surgically removed this offseason, for the price of $2.84 million in dead money for the next seven years—has the feel of buying high on Beanie Babies right before the market bottomed out.The difference, one way or another, is Jusuf Nurkic. After an up-and-down two-plus seasons in Denver, Nurkic—an Ent with touch around the basket—looked like a modern George Mikan at times, even flirting with a quadruple-double in just his eighth game with the team. All told, the Blazers were 14-6 when Nurkic played (which wasn’t often after April 1), with a plus-9.6 net rating, per NBA.com/Stats, and, more importantly, a respectable defense (103.7 defensive rating, which would have been good for fifth-best in the league).Next: T.J. Warren with be the league’s Most Improved Player in 2017-18Meyers Leonard led all Blazers with 17 points off the bench, while Ed Davis impressively grabbed 12 rebounds in 16 minutes. Damian Lillard and C.J McCollum combined for 23 points and 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals in the Portland victory.

Social Media On The Sacramento Kings' Fourth Preseason Match

In the team’s first three games this year they shot exactly 27 in each of them. Against Portland on Wednesday they ratcheted it up, even without Devin Booker in the lineup. What’s even better than just the totals is the fact that they are making 37.9% of their attempts, a serious leap over the 33.2% average for last season.

Dave King of sister site Bright Side of the Sun, recapping for Blazer’s Edge from Phoenix’s Talking Stick Resort Arena, described the incident this way:Gameday Thread Rule #2 is hereby rescinded for the next four hours. But any recommendations must be safe.
Although none of these players’ injuries are anticipated to be long-term, the timing is horrible. Not because anyone cares about this Kings game, but rather, because the Clippers have an overhauled roster with nine new players, and really needed every game this preseason to help them gel as a team. The guard rotations have been particularly impacted by injuries, and frankly, if the Clippers’ backcourt isn’t working, neither is the frontcourt. Expect highly inconsistent play from the franchise for the remainder of the preseason and into the regular season as they continue to figure things out.

Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Clippers – 10/12/17 NBA Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Earlier today we discussed Portland’s open spot in the starting lineup at power forward. Given his strong preseason performance, confidence, and skill set, Blazers fans have been speculating about the possibility of Swanigan earning the nod. In that earlier article we discussed what opposing power forwards, many of whom are stars, might do to Swanigan if he plays with the first unit. The education of rookies can be unpleasant.

What stood out in Wednesday’s blowout loss to the Trail Blazers was their poor shooting performance. At halftime, the Suns shot only 30.2% and weren’t able to improve that number any deeper into the game.
Rookie point guard Milos Teodosic had a breakout game for the Clippers on Sunday, contributing 15 points on 41.7 percent shooting, and draining four of his seven three-point attempts. Teodosic must continue to look for his shots, in addition to facilitating offense from Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, if the Clippers are to have any significant success this season.menu more-arrow no yes Horizontal – White Bright Side Of The Sun a Phoenix Suns community Log In or Sign Up Log In Sign Up Fanposts Fanshots Sections Library Suns Odds Shop About Masthead Community Guidelines StubHub More All 319 blogs on Horizontal – White Fanposts Fanshots Sections #SolarFlares Phoenix Suns Commentary The Madhouse Bright Side Podcasts Phoenix Suns Salary Cap Numbers Full Archive Library Community Guidelines (Video) Suns Trade and Draft History since 2004 Suns Stories Schedule Roster Stats Yahoo Suns News Yahoo Suns Team Page Yahoo Suns Report Yahoo Suns Depth Chart Yahoo Suns Transactions Yahoo Suns Photos Odds Shop About Masthead Community Guidelines StubHub ✕ Quick Recap: Suns lose preseason battle to Blazers 113-104 New, 40 comments Phoenix falls to 1-3 in preseason action after Wednesday’s home loss. by Evan Sidery Oct 11, 2017, 9:24pm MST tweet share pin Rec Jennifer Stewart-USA TODAY Sports After a close win back in Portland last Tuesday, the Suns had the Blazers visit Phoenix this time in their fourth preseason contest. The Sacramento Kings end their preseason on the road versus the Los Angeles Clippers. Sacramento struggled to put the ball in the basket last time out in a 97-83 defeat at the hands of the visiting Portland Trail Blazers and a decent defensive performance went for naught. Portland was held to 40% from the floor but that was golden with the Kings hitting shots at 30% with 13 fewer makes at the stripe. USA TODAY Sports

Notable Subtractions: Allen Crabbe (trade)LOOKING AT LEONARD: Meyers Leonard knows he didn’t do well last season so he rededicated himself to his craft over the summer, working out in Los Angeles with respected NBA trainer Drew Hanlen. Nukic’s arrival takes some of the pressure off the 7’1” Leonard as he enters his sixth season with the Blazers, but he still must prove he’s a solid reserve.

LEARNING CURVE: For two seasons in a row, the Blazers have had second-half rallies that helped put them in the postseason. But coach Terry Stotts acknowledges that perhaps Portland missed out on the lesson the first time. “I think from my perspective last year is that we forgot how hard it is to do what we did in the second half of the season,” he said. All right that’s all I got folks!

Len is coming off a 2016-17 season in which he averaged 8.0 points and 6.6 rebounds. The Ukrainian big man did start 34 games for Phoenix.

Here’s coach Earl Watson talking about a lot of things, including running them through an extremely hard practice the day before, how he liked the way they played on Wednesday night despite missing nearly every shot they took, and what he likes about Josh Jackson.
