With QB Case Keenum moving on to Denver, Kirk Cousins to visit Vikings
Case Keenum: Set to sign with Denver
The Broncos had inside knowledge into Keenum due to senior personnel advisor and former coach Gary Kubiaks relationship with the free-agent quarterback. He provides an upgrade and flexibility to make other moves.

Keenum is now 30 years old, and was a mediocre-to-bad quarterback for his entire career, until last season. His signing can not be made official until the new league year opens at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday. But Bradford himself injured his knee and eventually landed on injured reserve, handing the starting job to Keenum.

Kansas City and Denver didnt wait to boost their offenses, while the Raiders and Chargers have yet to make a big move.

His most noteworthy moment came in Minnesotas opening playoff game against the New Orleans Saints.

When you have a young, strong-armed quarterback with a penchant for throwing the long ball, what do you do? You get him some more speedy receivers to throw to. Thats what. The Chiefs are doing just that by offering Sammy Watkins a three-year deal worth $48 million. Watkins stayed relatively healthy in 2017, playing in 15 games for the Rams, though his 593 receiving yards were disappointing in the context of playing in one of the NFLs more explosive offenses. After four generally underwhelming NFL seasons, this could be a final stop for Watkins. The potential is there for him to succeed in one of the NFLs more creative offenses, though hell certainly have to compete with Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill for targets. This could be a Rams redo for Watkins. — MG

Only the winless Cleveland Browns threw more interceptions than the Broncos 22, and Denver had just one receiver catch more than 50 passes and finish with more than 560 yards receiving – Demaryius Thomas with 83 catches and 949 yards.

The Dolphins bring in former Chiefs wide receiver Albert Wilson and well-known Patriot Danny Amendola to chip in at the slot receiver position. For a variety of reasons, Miami wasnt thrilled with the idea of paying the $16-million price tag to hold Landry on the franchise tag in 2018. The combined deals of Wilson and Amendola cost less than that on a per year basis. If just Wilson was here taking Jarvis Landrys spots, hed be an excellent sleeper in an offense that fielded one of the most productive slot receivers in the NFL the last few years. However, with both of these players in tow, fantasy owners should leave Wilson and Amendola to the late rounds for now and hope some clarity arrives later in the offseason. — Matt Harmon

BBC Resorts to United Nations to Protect its Journalists in Iran The harassment escalated past year when Iranian authorities began a criminal investigation alleging their work was “a crime against Irans national security”, according to the BBC .

Earlier this offseason, Washington signaled its intentions at quarterback by trading for Alex Smith. Now theyve added another piece for him to throw to by agreeing to a five-year, $40 million deal with former Seahawks receiver Paul Richardson. After three underwhelming and injury-plagued seasons in Seattle, Richardson started to pay off on some of his promise in 2017 with 703 receiving yards and six touchdowns. If the Alex Smith we saw last season in Kansas City is the same Alex Smith that arrives in D.C., Richardson has plenty of upside as a deep threat with outstanding athletic ability and plus hands. Teaming him with Jamison Crowder, Josh Doctson, and Jordan Reed could create quite a pass-catching corps. — MG

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – For the second time in the past seven years, the Denver Broncos have roared into free agency to fix a quarterback problem. Keenum played for Kubiak with the Houston Texans, and starred in college at the University of Houston, where he once posted a nine touchdown game. Cousins would now appear to be the favorite to replace Keenum in Minnesota.

Keenum actually went 0-8 in his first eight NFL starts for Houston in 2013 – when Kubiak was fired. Kubiak is now the Broncos front-office consultant. In 2016, when Trevor Siemian unexpectedly beat out veteran Mark Sanchez and first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch to win the Broncos starting quarterback job, Elway nearly acquired Keenum in a trade from the Los Angeles Rams but backed off.

With an National Football League loving nation following the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes, teams like the Buffalo Bills are starting to turn their eyes toward more affordable options like Sam Bradford. He brings an edge and an attitude, forged from years of proving critics wrong in high school, college and the NFL.

According to 9News Denver, Keenums deal is expected to be a short-term agreement, suggesting it wont preclude the Broncos from taking a quarterback with the fifth overall pick in next months draft if they so choose.

For Keenum, he will now face a pile of expectations in a quarterback-crazed region that saw its team win a Super Bowl just two seasons ago.

Sources told ESPNs Adam Schefter the Broncos will reel in the 30-year-old Keenum to be their quarterback of the present and future when free agency officially opens Wednesday. He played for Vance Joseph and Gary Kubiak in Houston at the beginning of his career (2012-13) and already has a feel for the staff and offensive system. The importance of ball security can not be overstated after the Broncos quarterbacks fired 22 picks last season.

Keenums arrival means Paxton Lynch is expected to return as a backup with competition from Chad Kelly and a potential draft choice – that has not been ruled out – as Denver plans on trading Trevor Siemian. He inked a one-year, $2 million pact with the Vikings in free agency last year.

Broncos president of football operations/general manager John Elway had made finding a long-term solution at quarterback the priority of the offseason after the Broncos limped to a 5-11 finish in 2017 with an offense that finished the year tied for 26th in scoring. Not even the Minnesota Vikings, the team Keenum just led to the NFC Championship Game and had an 11-3 regular-season record with. “Obviously we have to get better at that (quarterback) position”, general manager John Elway said at the National Football League combine. He threw 22 touchdowns and only seven interceptions in 2017 after taking over for an injured Sam Bradford.

“We all understand on how the quarterback position has a direct influence on how your team plays”, Joseph said in February. He suffered a knee injury in that game, however, and would start just once more the rest of the season, in Week 5 against Chicago, before being removed from the lineup. Brock Osweiler, who also started last season, is a free agent, and will not be back.

“I still think were not too far away”. That doesnt all go on the players. After reaching the peak of Super Bowl 50 two years ago, the Broncos have sunk on the heels of two playoff-less seasons.
