Now, it’s been revealed who will fill them, as we’re being told that Gabriel Luna is taking on the role in The Terminator, director Tim Miller and producer James Cameron’s reboot of the franchise.
One thing’s for sure, rebooting one of the most beloved science fiction films of the modern era is a huge undertaking, though after Deadpool, I’m sure Tim Miller has the directorial stones to pull this off. Both Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, two of the franchise staples, will return, joined by Mackenzie Davis from The Martian and Blade Runner 2049.
Luna will play a Terminator robot while Boneta will play Danis brother. He had a small appearance in a couple of episodes of True Detectives second season, as well as a guest appearance on Prison Break back in the day and NCIS: Los Angeles, but hes most known in the U.S. for the TV series Matador, which played on the El Rey network. His performance as Robbie Reyes in S.H.I.E.L.D. conveyed the complexity of the character extremely well, and even though he had a darkness to him, he was still a hero. Joining Terminator 6 will be his biggest cinematic appearance yet, though if hes anything like the other antagonistic Terminator models, I imagine he wont be much of a chatterbox.
The script for the upcoming film was written by David Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel), and Paramount Pictures will release the movie to theaters on November 22nd, 2019.
David Goyer is writing the script with executives at Paramount hoping to roll the film out in November, 2019.
