Alec Baldwin told police that the man he allegedly struck over a parking space was an a**hole, prosecutors have claimed.  

Baldwin, 60, was charged on Monday with attempted assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree.  

He did not enter a plea and was released on his own recognizance after the brief appearance at New York Supreme Court.

But if Alec Baldwin was worried, he didnt show it Saturday, when the 60-year-old played a casual game of football at the Annual Turkey Bowl in East Hampton.

While the actor has maintained that he never punched anyone over the parking spot, prosecutors said he told a police officer that he pushed the man.

Baldwin arrived in court wearing black jeans, a black jacket, and a bright purple polo shirt, as well as glasses. 

Baldwin was arrested on Nov. 2. Police were told a driver pulled into a Manhattan parking space that one of Baldwins relatives was holding for him, and the two men started quarreling and pushing each other.

Alan Abramson, Baldwins attorney, told the court that there is video evidence proving his innocence. 

Baldwin, the star of former television sitcom “30 Rock” and current host of “Match Game,” has portrayed Republican President Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live” and recently started a talk show on ABC.

There is incontrovertible video evidence that has been turned over to the district attorneys office that proves beyond all doubt that Mr Baldwin never punched anyone, Abramson said.  

“Mr. Baldwin is a public figure whose reputation has been damaged by media reports that claim that he punched a man on a New York City street,” said his lawyer, Alan Abramson.

Were confident that once this matter is full investigated, it will be resolved swiftly and appropriately in court.   

The hot-headed actor, who arrived solo in a black SUV and ignored reporters' calls for comment as he was escorted into the courthouse by police officers, entered a plea of not guilty on the misdemeanor and violation-level charges. He has said any assertion that he punched anyone over a parking spot is false.

Mr Baldwin did not commit any crime and we are confident that once this matter is fully investigated it will be resolved swiftly and appropriately in court, he added.  

Baldwin appeared at the courthouse only briefly and made no comments as he left. He is next due to appear in court on January 23.

Baldwin has been accused of punching Wojciech Cieszkowski over a parking spot outside of his $13million penthouse on November 2 

US entertainment industry website Deadline reports that Baldwin was arraigned on the misdemeanour charge of attempted assault in the third degree and a count of harassment in the second degree. He was originally arrested by police on assault and harassment charges but these have now been downgraded.
