The ambulance stopped at the red light with its lights and siren activated. It then slowly proceeded through the intersection. An SUV went through the intersection and struck the back end of the passenger side of the ambulance. The ambulance slid across the lane striking a pole. The ambulance had four passengers in the rear, including a patient.
The driver of the SUV, who was not identified by OPP, was charged with fail to stop to nearest edge of roadway for emergency vehicle.
Officers from the Powassan detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a domestic dispute in Powassan at 12:57 p.m. Saturday.
As a result, a 40-year-old man from Powassan has been charged with assault – spousal, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and mischief.
The accused, who was not identified by police, was released on a recognizance of bail. He has a date to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay at a later date.

As a result, a 53-year-old man from the Township of Pringle has been charged with assault, assault – spousal and uttering threats to damage property.

North Bay OPP have charged the driver of an SUV after the vehicle hit an ambulance going through an intersection with a patient on board.
Investigators say the driver of the ambulance had its lights and siren on and was stopped at the red light before moving across the intersection slowly.
Three people plus the patient were in the rear of the vehicle but police dont say if anyone was hurt.
The driver of the SUV is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to stop to the nearest edge of the roadway for an emergency vehicle.
