Milton youth arrested following alleged break-in attempt at Oakville LCBO

Matthew Hobbs scored 1:19 into overtime as the Burlington Cougars took three of four points from Halton rival over the weekend.

Hobbs’ goal gave Burlington a 3-2 win over the Oakville Blades Saturday. The teams played to a 1-1 tie Friday in Oakville.

It was the third straight overtime game for the Cougars, who dropped a 3-2 decision to Mississauga Wednesday.

Josiah Degazon scored twice in the second period. His shorthanded goal midway through the second opened the scoring. After Oakville evened the score with a shorthanded goal of its own by Thomas Maia, Degazon restored Burlington’s lead.

In Friday’s game, Dunsmoor turned aside 48 shots, including 11 in overtime. Oakville’s Alton McDermott scored five minutes into the game but Dunsmoor was unbeatable the rest of the way.

The Cougars have three games in four nights, beginning with its game against Aurora at Appleby Ice Centre Friday at 7:30 p.m. Burlington is in Brampton Saturday and return home for a 2 p.m. game Monday against Milton.

Oakville has back-to-back home games at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Buffalo is in town Friday at 7 p.m. and Newmarket visits Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
