Bizarre accident sends two elderly women to hospital

It’s believed a car was pulling out a parking lot when it got caught on a large curb and became stuck. One of the passengers was getting out, when the vehicle, which was still in reverse, began to move and she was dragged onto the roadway.

It happened Wednesday evening in a church parking lot on Valleyridge Drive south of Dundas Street West in the city southwest of Toronto.

The car was left in reverse and ended up reversing onto the sidewalk and came to rest near the front steps of a nearby church.

One of the women, a 92-year-old from Oakville, was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries while the other, an 84-year-old Burlington woman was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. Both suffered head injuries.
