An arrest warrant has been issued for 42-year-old Rad Rondeau, who is suspected of assaulting an RCMP officer in Red Deer on Tuesday, leaving him unconscious.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 42-year-old man suspected of assaulting an RCMP officer in Red Deer on Tuesday, leaving him unconscious.

According to RCMP officials, the officer responded to a business on 50th Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday following reports of trespassing. The RCMP member located a man, suspected to be the trespassing suspect, and started speaking with him. The suspect allegedly attacked the officer, rendering him unconscious, and fled as the officer bled from the head.

“The officer located a male believed to be the suspect and engaged in conversation with him,” police said in a news release. “During the interaction, the male is alleged to have assaulted the RCMP officer to the point where he was knocked unconscious, bleeding from the head area, and left on the ground.”

Police are now looking for Rad Rondeau, who is wanted for aggravated assault on a police officer, robbery and obstruction.

Anyone with information regarding Rondeaus whereabouts is asked to contact the Red Deer RCMP detachment at 403-343-5575 or anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers.

“Prior to this incident, Rondeau was wanted on unrelated arrest warrants resulting from offences committed in May,” the RCMP said.

Anyone with information about what happened or Rondeau’s whereabouts is asked to call the Red Deer RCMP detachment at 403-343-5575 or their local police department. Police said Rondeau should not be approached if he is spotted.

RCMP have identified the suspect as 42-year-old Rad Rondeau of no fixed address, who was wanted in connection with undisclosed offences that occurred in May.

The Red Deer RCMP detachment is asking for help from the public as warrants have been issued for  the suspect in an early morning assault on an officer.

RCMP have issued an arrest warrant for a man who allegedly knocked an officer unconscious Tuesday in Red Deer, Alta.

Rad Rondeau, 42, is charged with aggravated assault of an officer, robbery and obstruction. He's also wanted on unrelated warrants dating back to offences committed in May.

Members of the Calgary Police Service are investigating after shots were fired at a northeast home Tuesday afternoon.

Police say at 3:26 a.m., RCMP responded to a complaint that a man was trespassing at a business on 50th Avenue.

The officer found a man who was believed to be the trespasser and started a conversation. Police say the man assaulted the officer, knocking him unconscious and leaving him bleeding from the head on the ground, before fleeing.

Security staff at the building saw the incident happen and helped the officer. He was taken to hospital and has since been released.

Police say Rondeau is Caucasian with brown hair and brown eyes, and is approximately five foot ten inches and weighs 190 pounds. 

Police say not to approach Rondeau but to instead call RCMP at 403-343-5575 with information as to his whereabouts.
