The Saskatchewan Coroners' Service is assisting the investigation, which includes the forensic identification and major crimes units of the Regina Police Service.

Police are investigating Regina’s third homicide of 2019 after officers responded to a call that reported a man laying on a sidewalk just after midnight Saturday.

According to a police issued news release, officers responded to the area of 7th Avenue and Garnet Street at approximately 12:04 a.m. Upon arrival they located the victim lying on the sidewalk between Garnet and Cameron Street and began administering emergency first-aid until EMS arrived at the scene.

One resident said he heard gunshots around midnight and later saw around a dozen police cars in the area. He also said police had blocked off both Garnet and Cameron Street along 7th Avenue early Saturday morning. By early afternoon, the police tape had been removed.

Regina police say the death of a man found lying on a sidewalk on Saturday is the city's third homicide of 2019.

Police say the victim’s name will not be released at this time as police are confirming his identity to notify his family of his death.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 7 Ave. and Garnet St. just after midnight, after a report of a man lying on the sidewalk. When they arrived on scene, officers performed first-aid on the victim until EMS arrived.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing with additional help from the forensic identification unit and major crimes unit.

Some Regina businesses are aiming to lower their environmental footprint by encouraging customers to bring their own containers, to help reduce waste.

Police are still working to confirm the identity of the deceased man and notify his family. They will not be releasing his name at this time.

A man was killed on Saturday morning in the City of Reginas third confirmed homicide of 2019, according to police.

Officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound in her car near Dewdney Avenue and Garnet Street around 12:10 a.m. Saturday.

Police say the altercation may have started in the 1400 block of Edward Street. The woman drove off in her vehicle, but was chased by the suspect.
