Blythe wins Richmond mayoral race, becomes first African-American to hold the office

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) – Robert Blythe has defeated challenger Jim Newby in the race to be Richmonds next mayor.

The pair of candidates each filed to fill the seat after former Mayor Jim Barnes announced in January that he would not be seeking a third term in office.

Blythe is a pastor and retire university professor. He also previously served on the Richmond City Commission.
