Man charged with 2nd-degree murder on Pelican Lake First Nation
One man is dead and a relative is facing a second-degree murder charge after an incident at a home on the Pelican Lake First Nation.

Spiritwood RCMP said paramedics, Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment officers with the Provincial Response Team responded to a home on the First Nation Saturday where it was reported an adult had suffered life-threatening injuries following an altercation.

They say they were called to a home on Pelican Lake First Nation because of a reported altercation, where a man sustained life-threatening injuries.

Lorin Davin Chamakese was arrested and charged in the second-degree murder of Dustin Craig Chamakese, who police said are related.

SPIRITWOOD, Sask. – Saskatchewan police say a man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a family member.

An autopsy is scheduled for Oct. 9, in Saskatoon. Members of the Major Crime Unit North, forensic identification section and police dog services are assisting with the investigation.

Police say Dustin Craig Chamakese was pronounced dead, and a suspect was charged with second-degree murder.

RCMP from the Spiritwood detachment were called to a home in the community on Saturday following a report that a man had suffered life-threatening injuries.  

One man was arrested and charged with second degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in Spiritwood provincial court on Tuesday morning.

The man had died from his injuries when police arrived. Lorin Davin Chamakese of Pelican Lake First Nation has been charged with second-degree murder in Dustin Chamakese’s death. Police said the two men are related.
