A 28-year-old Toronto man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was seriously injured in a stabbing in Scarborough on Thursday.

In a news release issued Friday, police said they arrested 28-year-old Fahad Jeebhai of Toronto in Cornwall, Ont. on Thursday night. He is charged with attempted murder and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Toronto police were called to the area of Midland Avenue and Lawrence Avenue West around 11:30 a.m. for a stabbing.

The suspect, who has been identified as Fahad Jeebhai, was arrested in Cornwall on Thursday around 7:15 p.m., police said in a news release on Friday.

A 28-year-old man is facing two charges after a woman was stabbed multiple times in an apparent domestic dispute in Scarborough.

Police were called to a home on Birkdale Road in the Midland Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East area just after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

When they arrived, they discovered a 22-year-old woman had been stabbed multiple times. She was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition but her condition was stabilized later in the day.

The victim was then rushed to hospital with serious injuries, where she remains in stable condition.

The suspect, who police on the scene identified as her brother, fled the scene but was arrested around six hours later in Cornwall.
