RNC officers and paramedics with Eastern Health were called to an apartment building on Bay Bulls Road to a report of a sudden death at around 10:40, Wednesday night.

Investigators with RNC’s Major Crimes Unit say the circumstances around her death are considered suspicious. The scene has been closed off by police while the Chief Medical Examiner works to determine the exact cause of death.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a suspicious death after a 45-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment building on Bay Bulls Road in St. John's on Wednesday night.

Police secured the area in which the death occurred pending the medical examiner’s report. Investigators have been in the area throughout the day canvassing and speaking with neighbours.

Police say they are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine how the woman died.

The area is being secured until the medical examiner completes a report into the death. Police spent Thursday canvassing the neighbourhood and speaking with residents.
