RCMP were called to a house near 160 Street and 16 Avenue just after midnight. Inside, officers found a 46-year-old man with gunshot wounds.

The RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is now leading the investigation. IHIT said Friday two men have been arrested in connection with the man's death. A tweet from the team said there are no outstanding suspects.

While police are gathering evidence, traffic will be affected with 160 Street shut down in both directions between 16th Avenue and Alter Place until further notice.

RCMP said the suspects and victim are known to each other and officers do not believe public safety is at risk.

The shooting came just hours after Surrey RCMP held a community engagement meeting to address residents' concerns about safety. The meeting had been planned after another shooting, which sent two men to hospital with serious injuries on Tuesday.

More than 150 people showed up at the meeting, many with questions about safety in the neighbourhood.

The shooting Tuesday happened in the Fraser Heights neighbourhood of the city, about 25 kilometres away from Thursday's crime scene.
