Evidence markers dotted Highway 10 for several dozen metres west of the intersection where a white car sat with front end damage.

A release from the Surrey RCMP is asking that anyone who saw the vehicle involved in the crash — either during or before the incident — to contact them directly.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the vehicle beforehand, or has dash camera footage of the incident is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

“Even though the pedestrian was jaywalking our investigators will still need to look at if the driver was intoxicated,”  Honeyman said.

It is a priority for CBC to create a website that is accessible to all Canadians including people with visual, hearing, motor and cognitive challenges.

When Surrey RCMP arrived at the scene, they determined that this was a pedestrian struck collision and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene," said Staff Sgt. Duane Honeyman in a news release.

The investigation into the collision is in its early stages and investigators are now seeking witnesses who observed the collision, or who observed the vehicle prior to the collision, to contact the Surrey RCMP. Investigators are also seeking any available dash-cam video.

It is unclear if the pedestrian was in the crosswalk at the time, but images from the scene show the Toyota Echo and the pedestrians body just slightly west of the crosswalk. There were also articles of clothing and shoes scattered across the road. The Toyota Echo had major front end damage, and its windshield was shattered.

Anyone with more information about this incident, who has not yet spoken to police, is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-TIPS or online.

It was raining heavily at the time, and the roads were wet. It is unclear if weather was a factor in this deadly crash.

The entire intersection of 152 Street and Highway 10 was shut down in all directions with traffic being diverted prior to the intersection.

RCMP are now looking for witnesses after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Surrey on Saturday night.

Denise West is a manager at nearby Big Ridge Brewing. She told CTV News Vancouver the intersection of Highway 10 and 152 Street has been a problem for years.

Its very dark, its not a very well-lit intersection, West said. This intersection is really busy. Not a lot of people pay attention especially when theyre turning right.

She said when staff leave to run an errand, she is always telling everyone careful before you cross.

On May 25 of this year, a pedestrian was struck in the evening, while it was still light out. And, almost a year ago to the day, on Sept. 21, 2018, a man in his 50s was killed while he was crossing Highway 10 near the intersection.

Maybe having an advanced right turn light, maybe some more lighting here, or even longer crosswalk times, she suggested.

A hit-and-run driver left a wake of injuries and damage in their path last week, and Langley Mounties think its possible there were more collisions that day.
