Two injured in robbery gone wrong at North York business: Saunders
Two people were injured after shots were fired in what appeared to be a "targeted" robbery gone wrong at a North York business on Thursday morning, Toronto police say.

Const. Alex Li said officers were called to a moving company and warehouse near Alness Street and Magnetic Drive, south of Steeles Avenue West, at 10:24 a.m. for a report of an armed suspect opening fire inside a business.

We believe that there could be potential evidence that is still here that needs to be located so that is why weve got all of these resources here, Saunders said. We are looking for and appealing to anyone who saw anything in the area to please contact police, if you have video cameras or anything please help us by giving us the evidence.

Firefighters brought her outside and she was rushed to a hospital trauma centre with serious injuries.

Saunders said a second victim, a male, made his own way to a hospital in York Region suffering from a gunshot wound.

SHOOTING: (UPDATE) Alness St & Magnetic Dr – businesses have been searched as well as the area – no suspects on scene – 2 suspects left on foot – no description at this time – officers continue to gather evidence – any info pls call 4168082222/8083200#GO219912/2019914 ^al

Once the extent of his injuries became clear, he was rushed via ambulance emergency run to a Toronto trauma centre.

Out of all of the locations, they specifically went into that location and they specifically acted in that location alone at this point in time, he said. Its one incident at one location, it appears to be targeted until any evidence tells us anything further.

Saunders said a third person at the scene appeared to suffer an anxiety attack after witnessing the shooting.

Our evidence tells us right now that this was in fact a robbery, Saunders said. We have right now the area cornered off by the public safety response teams that are trained in this type of event, emergency task force is also on scene and has cleared that area.

Demands were made and people were shot, he said, later calling the incident "targeted."

Upon arrival, what we found was a female that was suffering from gunshot wounds, Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders told reporters at the scene at noon. Firefighters were taking her out and she was immediately transported to a trauma centre.

It appears the suspects made their way out of the area on foot but investigators do not yet have a detailed description.

A family is furious with their childrens elementary school after they didnt pause at 11 a.m. on Remembrance Day because the time conflicted with morning recess.

Saunders said he is confident that the suspects are no longer onsite and that there are no further victims.

Emergency crews responded to reports of shots fired inside a moving company located in the industrial area of Alness Street and Magnetic Drive just after 10 a.m.

Saunders said the robbery appears to have been targeted and is solvable due to the speed at which officers got to the scene. He said he is urging anyone who witnessed the incident, including people going in and out of a nearby Home Depot, to call police immediately.

They further looked at the whole industrial plaza that is here and cleared it to make sure there are no suspects that are outstanding.

A man and woman were shot during what police describe as a robbery attempt at a storage company in North York on Thursday morning.

As officers continue to canvass the area and appeal to witnesses to come forward, they said they believe this is a solvable case.

The woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, while the man managed to get himself to a nearby hospital.

The suspects walked into the business and began shooting, police allege, before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at Alness Street and Magnetic Drive near Dufferin Street and Steeles Avenues West at around 10:25 a.m.

Saunders added that a third person witnessed the shooting and suffered from what looks like an anxiety attack as a result.

Police say two suspects were trying to rob a storage company when the shooting occurred. They fled on foot and no descriptions are available at this time.

Saunders said he believes this incident was targeted in nature, as those responsible went directly to that business.

It looks like Toronto Police were able to get some good footprints in the snow outside the scene of this mornings shooting on Mgentic Drive. The two suspects fled on foot. @680NEWS @CityNews

According to investigators, two suspects arrived at the business and demands were made and people were shot.

Just another day in the life of a city that is spiraling out of control with gun violence and the waste of spaces who are committing the crimes. Since Canada is ok with the shootings everyone and I mean everyone should have the right to carry to be able to defend themselves so that when these useless humans commit their crimes they can get the real JUSTICE they deserve. Our criminal justice system is an absolute joke and its no wonder that there are criminals running around our streets with lengthy criminal backgrounds because that’s what our prosecutors do.
