Fatal shooting at Oakwood and Vaughan, police identify victim
Toronto police have identified a man who died after he was shot while walking on a sidewalk in the west end early Saturday.

The shooting happened on Oakwood Avenue south of Vaughan Road. Police officers in the area heard gunfire at about 1:40 a.m. and rushed to the scene. Callers also reported hearing the sounds of gunshots.

Toronto paramedics rushed him to a trauma centre through an emergency run. He was without vital signs and he was pronounced dead in hospital.

I believe that it was targeted, whether or not Craig Campbell was the intended target, I dont know that at this time," Toronto Police Homicide Detective Aaron Akeson told reporters Saturday afternoon.

Police taped off the area as officers collected evidence at the scene and looked for surveillance camera footage from nearby businesses.

TORONTO — Police have identified the Toronto man killed in a "targeted" shooting in the citys west end early Saturday morning.

Toronto Homicide Units Detective Aaron Akeson told media that police were able to get to him quickly, because they were already in the area.

Akeson said that police are aware that there was an event near the area, and police are looking for witnesses.

Its scary to work here on the weekend nights, and its scary for the residents of the neighbourhood.
