Vancouver man charged in human trafficking case
What originally began on January 6 as a missing-person case involving a 16-year-old girl transformed into a different type of investigation when Surrey RCMP discovered the girl in question was allegedly being held in Vancouver.

Surrey RCMP and the Vancouver Police Department joined forces to locate and rescue her. At the time of her recovery, the male suspect was not present.

On April 5, charges were laid and an arrested warrant was issued for 19-year-old suspect Raimon Geday.

Geday faces 14 charges, including unlawfully recruiting, transporting, harboring and exploiting an individual under the age of 18;  advertising an offer to provide sexual services; production and possession of child pornography; possession of a controlled substance; and firearm possession offences.

According to B.C. Court Services, Geday had previously been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance on June 15, 2018, but the charges were stayed on August 3, 2018.

In addition, on January 1, Geday was charged with possessing weapon for a dangerous purpose, two charges of possessing a firearm without a license or registration, and having a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition. His next court appearance for these charges will be on April 29.
