In an interview with the Sunday Times, the 49-year-old Welsh actress recalls the shock of learning that her husband, 74, was being accused by a former employee, who alleged the “Wall Street” star masturbated in front of her during a 1989 script meeting.

She admits that, as a supporter of the #MeToo movement, the allegations against Douglas placed her in a difficult spot. It was a really hard position for me and, in the height of it all, it was nasty, she admits.
Douglas, however, was adamant that the allegations were bogus, and insisted he simply did not behave that way, promising there would not be a Harvey Weinstein-style barrage of similar allegations following.
Douglas, she says, told his family that there is no story here and that time will tell. And, of course, it did. There was nothing to back it up at all. For any accusation that comes out that isnt backed up, that knocks the movement back 20 years.
Adds Zeta-Jones: God knows weve had ups and downs in our marriage, but I dont throw the towel in very quickly on anything. Im not that person. Not that I would white-knuckle it until the day he drops dead. Or the day I drop dead, Im not that stupid, either, she adds with a laugh.
Prior to the woman’s allegations being made public, Douglas offered a pre-emptive response to refute her claims entirely. “This is a complete lie, fabrication, no truth to it whatsoever, he said in January 2018.
