Woman arrested in Virginia, accused of murdering Waterloo man

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – The Waterloo Police Department says theyve arrested and charged a woman with 1st Degree Murder.

Authorities say on November 8 Waterloo police obtained a warrant for 22-year-old Danaesha Martin in connection with the death of Shavondes Martin in May.

On Tuesday the U.S. Marshals Service along with the Norfolk Police Department were able to find and arrest her without incident at 12:50 p.m. in the 700 block of A Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia.

The arrest comes months after Martin's first cousin, Shavondes S. Martin, was found dead in an alley near South Street in the Iowa city of Waterloo on May 31.

The investigation is ongoing and Waterloo police arent releasing any other information at this time.

At this time, authorities say the case regarding Shavondes mother, Diane Martin, isnt related. Diane died after she was shot in her home in September 2018.
