Celebrities joined British royalty at Windsor Castle today for the second big royal wedding of the year, with Princess Eugenie, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, following her cousin Prince Harry down the aisle.

Eugenie, 28, younger daughter of the Queen's third child, Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, married Jack Brooksbank, 32, at the monarch's home to the west of London.

Windsor Castle was also the venue for Harry and Meghan's wedding in May, and Eugenie, ninth-in-line to the throne, has copied much of her cousin's blueprint for her big day.

The ceremony took place at the castle's 15th-century St. George's Chapel with the Dean of Windsor David Conner officiating. Charity guests and 1,200 members of the public have been invited into the grounds for the occasion.

Eugenies dress was cut in a deep V in the front and the back, a feature requested by the bride that revealed a vertical scar from her surgery at 12 to correct scoliosis. She has said previously its important for people to show their scars.

One noticeable absentee was Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, the wife of heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles, as she was carrying out an engagement in Scotland.

Eugenie, 28, works at a contemporary art gallery. The couple, who had dated for seven years, got engaged in January when Brooksbank, 32, proposed during a trip to Nicaragua. They married in the same venue used in May by Harry and Meghan.

While Harry's wedding featured a fiery sermon from a U.S. Episcopalian bishop and a gospel choir, Eugenie's was more traditional with a performance by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and the address given by Conner.

The queen and her husband, Prince Philip, attended the wedding, along with other senior royals, including Prince Charles, Prince William and his wife Kate, the duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry with Meghan, the duchess of Sussex.

Princess Charlotte, three, daughter of Harry's elder brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate, was a bridesmaid while her brother, Prince George, five, was a page boy.

“There will be a few more people than most people have, there are a few more than Harry had, but thats just the nature of Eugenie and Jack – theyve got so many friends that they need a church of that size to fit them all in,” he told “This Morning” which broadcast the event live.

After the service, the couple was to embark on an open-top carriage tour of Windsor, although shorter than the one Harry and Meghan, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, took when thousands lined the streets of the town.

Security around Windsor was tight, with airport-style security checks and large numbers of police. As Eugenie does not carry out official royal duties, republicans have said it is wrong that the estimated 2 million pound ($2.6 million) security bill will be paid by taxpayers.

As Eugenie — ninth-in-line to the throne — does not carry out official royal duties, republicans and some newspapers have said it is wrong that the security bill for the event will be paid for by taxpayers because the Royal Family are only paying for the wedding itself.

The 92-year-old queen and her husband Philip, 97, who has retired from official engagements, were joined by other royals and celebrities including Hollywood stars Liv Tyler and Demi Moore, models Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell and singer Ellie Goulding.

But local council deputy leader Phillip Bicknell was relishing the prospect of another big royal draw.

"The monarch and her family are part of the shop window for Great Britain, and at the end of the day anything that goes on that creates people wanting to come to this part of the world — come and see what goes on in Windsor — we're very happy for that," he said.

It was the same setting as Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as the couple are now known, were among the star-studded congregation.

Lady Louise Windsor, ushering the bridesmaids and pageboys, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte, up the steps to the chapel had an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction when the wind conspired to lift her short hemline.

During several fittings the dress was developed layer by layer, constructing it from the corset and the complex underskirt to the fitted bodice and full pleated skirt, the Royal Family wrote in a statement. The dress features a neckline that folds around the shoulders to a low back that drapes into a flowing full-length train.

Female guests had to cling on to their hats as a blustery wind threatened their wedding outfits and a page boy tripped on the stairs walking into the chapel.

Scoliosis is a condition that causes an abnormal curve of the spine. Eugenie still has two 30-centimetre rods in her back, though the condition is not expected to cause any long-term issues for the princess.

Eugenies dress, by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos of the London-based label Peter Pilotto, had a low back to reveal scars from surgery she underwent to correct scoliosis when she was 12.

As for jewelry, Eugenie wore an emerald tiara that Queen Elizabeth II lent to her for the big day along with diamond and emerald earrings, which were a wedding gift from Brooksbank.

“It’s a lovely way to honor the people who looked after me and a way of standing up for young people who also go through this,” she told ITV’s “This Morning” ahead of the wedding.

While designing the dress, Pilotto and De Vos spent time researching other bridal gowns worn by members of the Royal Family before coming up with a silhouette for Eugenie.

“There will be a few more people than most people have, there are a few more than Harry had, but that’s just the nature of Eugenie and Jack – they’ve got so many friends that they need a church of that size to fit them all in,” he told “This Morning” which broadcast the event live.

Several hundred singing and cheering well-wishers gathered outside in Windsor in the shadow of the castle, far fewer than the thousands that crammed into the town for Harry’s wedding.

The ceremony was conducted by the Dean of Windsor David Conner, and Eugenies elder sister, Princess Beatrice, the maid of honor, read an extract from the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel The Great Gatsby which the bride had read after meeting her future husband in the Swiss ski resort of Verbier in 2010.

Eugenie is the princess who (despite it all) never stops smiling

Eugenie is a director at London’s Hauser & Wirth art gallery, and Brooksbank owns a wine wholesale business and is European brand manager for Casamigos Tequila, which was co-founded by U.S. actor George Clooney.

Security around Windsor was tight, with airport-style security checks and large numbers of police. As Eugenie does not carry out official royal duties, republicans have said it is wrong that the estimated 2 million pound ($2.6 million) security bill will be paid by taxpayers.

Writing in the Times newspaper, commentator Matthew Bell said the grandeur of the wedding showed Prince Andrew’s desire to cement his family’s royal status.

“When it is all over, Eugenie will continue to live with an identity experienced by a tiny minority: as a fully fledged princess, gawped at, envied and scrutinized by all,” Bell wrote.

“Yet as the years roll by, and her royal status diminishes, as a peripheral figure of almost no consequence at all.”
