The 58-year-old caregiver has been confirmed as the person whose lottery ticket won the $5-million jackpot of the Lotto 6/49 draw on Oct. 24.

Martin was at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s prize centre in Toronto last Friday to pick up the biggest windfall she’s ever had.

She told OLG staff that she found out about the life-altering win by checking her ticket numbers on the OLG’s official smartphone app.

“I remember thinking … Oh my, it really is real!” she said. “I was in complete shock. I don’t think I slept all night.”

As for what she plans to do with her newfound wealth, Martin said she’ll probably buy a house and a new car, do some travelling, and save the rest.

But she’s fully aware of how life-changing the money will be. “It means I can relax and not have to worry about a lot of things anymore,” she told OLG staff with a smile.

I enjoy playing LOTTO 6/49, LOTTARIO, and DAILY GRAND, Connie said while claiming her winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

I remember thinking, ‘oh my, it really is real!’ she laughed. I was in complete shock!  I dont think I slept all night!

The remainder, Ill put into my savings so that it will last the rest of my life, Martin adds. Its just life-changing. It means I can relax and not have to worry about a lot of things anymore.
