School bus hits children playing on road, one killed

BROCKVILLE — With a high impact storm pelting the region with a frozen mix, including freezing rain, school buses have been cancelled today (Monday) across Leeds-Grenville.

All school buses across the district for the Upper Canada District School Board and the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario have been cancelled.

The French transportation consortium has also cancelled buses for Brockville, Merrickville and Kemptville.

School buses serving counties to the east of London are cancelled this morning as southern Ontario continues to deal with the after affects of the weekend storm.

The police said that the deceased was identified as Rahul and his friend Jaideep has been identified as the injured, both residents of Vivekanand jhuggi cluster in Chanakyapuri. The accused driver identified as Reshampal has been arrested.

Buses are cancelled in Oxford Country for day, but are running in London, Middlesex, and Elgin County.

The two were immediately rushed to a hospital where Rahul was declared brought dead on arrival as he suffered head injuries; Jaideep is said to be critical. Meanwhile, caught the driver and handed him over to the police.

Buses are also canclled in Huron-Perth with affected runs viewable here.

Earlier this week, a 12-year-old boy was crushed to death when a truck hit him in north-west Delhis Mahendra Park area. The truck was being used to lift debris from the under-construction house.

Hydro One is reporting dozens of outages in the region affected thousands of customers Monday morning.

Provincial Police in Huron County are investigating after a man was killed when he was stuck by a pickup truck northeast of Bluevale.
